The galaxy cluster Abell 449 is located around 1.1 billion light-years away in the constellation "Camelopardalis" and can be observed all year round
due to its declination of +75°.
It belongs to Richness Class 1 and Distance Class 4 - this means that it is very far away and not particularly rich in galaxies. Abell 449 has an apparent
elongation of 23.5', which corresponds to a true diameter of 6.8 million light-years. Together with Abell 527 it forms a supercluster.
In the center is a radio galaxy from which lobes with an extension of 1.3 Mpc emanate, far more than usual.

In my 20" telescope there is not much to see of Abell 449. At a magnification of 270x, only a handful of galaxies were visible, but only with averted vision.
