The galaxy cluster Abell 1238 has a redshift of z= 0.10, which puts it at a distance of over 1.3 billion light-years. It is moving away from us at around
10% of the speed of light, or more precisely at 29,300 kilometers per second. The individual galaxies are very faint with magnitudes of 17...18mag and
are grouped around a brighter 11.3mag star.

In my 20" Dobsonian, the extremely faint patches of light can only be recognized with indirect vision at a high magnification of V=380x. I was able to
identify a total of 7 galaxies. The bright star makes orientation easier. :)
