Dwarf Planet Pluto

At the time of the observation on July 17, 2023, the dwarf planet Pluto was low in the constellation Sagittarius at a declination of -23° and therefore only 18° above the southern horizon. The distance was 5.06 billion kilometers, the apparent brightness 14.5mag.

In my 20" Dobsonian telescope, Pluto appeared as a faint point of light, which was very easy to recognize at a magnification of 270x thanks to the good seeing. The color was slightly yellowish. The star-rich surrounding area provided a nice contrast, as did a group of three brighter 12-13mag stars just south of Pluto.
